Reasons to be Cheerful is run by a small but dedicated team, so it can sometimes take us a little while to respond. A member of our team will usually respond on the Thursday of every week. We are committed to taking care of our community and appreciate your patience.
Why should I donate? Where does my money go?
Small nonprofit publications like ours rely on support from people like you who believe in what we’re doing. Monthly contributions allow us to plan ahead, retain talented staff and pursue stories that lead to positive change. Every new sustaining member expands the boundaries of what we can do.
Can I support Reasons to be Cheerful with a donation that recurs annually rather than monthly?
We are grateful for your support in any form. If you’d like to make an annual gift, under Select Donation Frequency simply choose Annual on the drop-down menu.
I don’t want my contribution to recur at all. Can I just make a one-time donation?
Of course. To make a single contribution go to the Donate page and simply follow the instructions. If you contribute $12 or more you’ll automatically become a Reasons to be Cheerful member!
Can I pay by check?
Yes! Please make it out to Arbutus Foundation and mail it to Arbutus, 441 Broadway, 3rd floor, New York, NY 10013.
Can I pay through PayPal or Venmo?
Unfortunately, we don’t accept PayPal, Venmo or any other third-party payment system at this time. We do however accept credit and debit cards, bank transfers or checks (see above for more information).
I live outside the United States. Can I contribute in international currency?
We at Reasons to be Cheerful are proud to say our growing community of members spans over 25 countries. The exchange rate on payments done via our online portal will be set by your own bank in your home country.
I accidentally signed up for two memberships and have been charged twice. Help!
Don’t panic! Just contact us here and one of our team will get back to you as soon as we can. Reimbursement for any accidental payment can take 7 to 11 business days.
Is Arbutus a 501(c)3 nonprofit?
Yes, Arbutus is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. Your membership gift can count as a tax-deductible contribution.
How do I cancel my membership?
Canceling your membership is easy and quick. If at any time you feel the need to stop your membership, just email [email protected]
